Ted Long Joins Smith Moore

June 24, 2009

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., --- Financial services firm Smith, Moore & Company has continued growing with the addition of financial advisor Ted Long to their newly established Kansas City branch. Formerly of Merrill Lynch, Long brings his entrepreneurial perspective and nine years of financial industry experience to the firm.

"Ted is a well respected member of the community, and we are glad that he has joined Smith Moore’s newest branch," President and CEO Jim Deutsch said. "His strong values and dedication to his clients greatly exemplify the ideals Smith Moore was founded upon."

With expertise in financial planning and portfolio management, as well as alternative investments, Long serves each of his clients by recommending strategic solutions best suited to achieving their financial goals.

"The independent thinking that permeates Smith Moore’s culture allows me to freely utilize my experience both inside and outside of the financial services industry to craft the best solutions for my clients," Long said.

An independent boutique firm, Smith Moore was built on Midwestern values, and superior customer service remains a cornerstone of the company.

"From a background and values standpoint, Smith Moore’s principles are close to those that my clients and I hold to be most important," Long said.

With the transition to Smith Moore, Long’s clients will experience the same exceptional service, with the additional benefits of working with an independent firm.

"I see my clients as more than a portfolio or group of numbers, but as individuals, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in this manner at Smith Moore," Long said.

Long’s client base consists primarily of high net worth families and individuals, with varying goals and needs.

"I utilize a goal-directed approach that, in some cases, may be outside of stocks and bonds," Long said. "The open architecture of Smith Moore will support my ability to serve each client in a manner that best meets their objectives."

Long, who will be serving as vice president, is the fourth advisor to join Smith Moore’s recently opened Kansas City branch. He will be joining branch manager and vice president Jon Bakalar, vice presidents Randy Rhyner and John Ruh, and executive administrative assistant Rita Gualtier at the new location.

Established in 1913, Smith Moore has expanded to include a total of seven branches and one satellite office throughout the Midwest, and has plans for continued growth with the recruitment of experienced advisors throughout the year.
